Racket of the “HYBRID” range of the ASICS brand, in its “SOFT” version. Composed of carbon, a fiberglass cover and a core of EVA SOFT Gum, a low-density gum. It has a teardrop format, said “hybrid” by the brand, but the difference to the “SPEED” version is very tenuous. It has a rough surface with a glossy finish.

Racket Features:

First Impressions:

By grabbing it for the first time you get the feel of a racket lighter and manageable than the “SPEED” version. The balance is directed towards the head in my opinion but much more centered than in the “SPEED” version, as in the other “HYBRID” versions.

By placing the overgrips, you will be able to slightly optimise the swing towards the handle. If you cannot put more than 1 overgrip the option is also for placing tungsten tapes under the Overgrip (s) to lower the paddle balance. On the contrary if you want to add more power, place the ribbons on the top of the racket below or above the protector. This is a pretty viable option for when you like a lot of all the other features of a racket, less of your swing.

General lines:

In-game is a racket with a soft touch. The difference to the normal version is tenuous. It features a reduced sweet spot but quite acceptable for this format. In terms of power is quite well, in lines with the other versions “HYBRID”. It has an average output, slightly above the other versions.

In the net:

In the net trays and volleys without well directed and powerful without much effort.

Back of the court:

Control is pretty good from the back of the court, and the average output allows for good depth in all the strokes. Centered sweet spot helps you in the most complicated phases.

Weight:

The weight tested was 372gr.

Surface:

The surface is rough with glossy finish.

Sound:

In sound terms is a racket that has a medium-sounding and medium-bass timbre.

Safety cord:

The safety cord is adjustable with a very discreet and innovative rubber system.

Durability: In terms of durability, it seems to be a solid racket, very well built and robust that will not break very easily. Well-esteemed will last a long time in my opinion.

Pros:

  • Good power
  • Manageable
  • Soft and comfortable touch
  • Adjustable cord System

Cons:

  • Price

Conclusion:

In conclusion, this is a racket to be indicated for players from middle level who want a good relationship between power and handling. It has a soft stroke and an average output. It’s a racket with excellent commitment between power, control and output. Possibly the most comfortable of the 3 “HYBRID” versions and the one I personally like best.

In the defensive stage is not the ideal racket but it complies very well due to its good handling for a tear format. The average output will also help at this point. In the net you can get enough power without much effort. Volleys and trays come out deep and with good precision. You can, with good technique, draw by 3, 4 and bring the ball back.

The visual part is attractive and homogeneous across the ASICS line. In my personal opinion it could be improved.

I didn’t feel much vibration in my arm, but it’s not entirely exempt from that.

It serves mainly left-wing players who want a little more handling. You can also serve more aggressive right-wing players, but it is not at all the best option for this side of the field where “building the game” is much more the focus.

If you are looking for power with some handling commitment and not looking too much at the price, this racket may be ideal for you. Good games!
