Top-of-the-range racket of one of the latest brands to produce padel rackets, the well-known brand of sneakers and sports equipment Asics. It is the standard edition of the “SPEED” power line of the Asics brand for the year 2018, of the same line as the “HARD” version , the weapon chosen by the fantastic Brazilian player Pablo Lima. Composed of carbon and fiberglass and a core of EVA gum. It has a tear shape and a rough surface with glossy finish.
When you pick it up for the first time you get the feeling of a lightweight and manageable racket despite its format. The swing is directed slightly towards the head but does not notice much. By placing the overgrips, you will be able to slightly optimize the swing towards the handle. If you cannot put more than 1 overgrip the option is also for placing tungsten tapes under the Overgrip (s) to lower the paddle balance. On the contrary if you want to add more power, place the ribbons on the top of the racket below or above the protector. This is a pretty viable option for when you like a lot of all the other features of a racket, less of your swing.
In game it is a racket with a medium touch, a solid and accurate hit. The difference to the “SPEED HARD” version is tenuous and basically holds with a slightly more soft and comfortable touch. It features a reduced sweet spot but quite acceptable for this format. In terms of power remains very impressive, in lines with the other “SPEED” versions. It has a medium-short output, slightly above the “SPEED” version.
In the net:
In the net trays and volleys are accurate and come out with natural and power without much effort. Being a surprisingly manageable racket, it becomes easy to react quickly and take advantage of your sweet spot that is clearly shorter than the “HYBRID” and “CONTROL” versions.
Back of the court:
The control is quite acceptable from the bottom of the court, its output slightly above the version “SPEED HARD”, gives you an extra help and comfort back there. The sweet spot is short but with good technique will not have any problem. Lobs come out well directed and deep, with the correct technique.
The weight tested was 373gr.
The surface is rough with glossy finish.
In sound terms is a racket that has a medium sound and with a medium timbre.
The safety cord is adjustable with a very discreet and innovative rubber system.
In terms of durability, it seems to be a solid racket, very well built and robust that will not break very easily. Well-esteemed will last a long time in my opinion. Pros:
- Excellent power
- Adjustable cord System
- Sweet Spot Reduced
In conclusion, this is a racket for advanced level players who want a powerful racket that allows an aggressive game on the net and that meets minimally in the other phases of the game. It has a medium hardness stroke and a medium-short output. It is a racket with excellent power, but also with amazing handling.
More comfortable than the “SPEED HARD” version. In the defensive stage is not the ideal racket no doubt but it complies very well due to its good handling for this format. The medium-short output will also help you a little more than the “SPEED HARD” version in my opinion.
In the net you can get an impressive power. Volleys and trays come out deep and accurate. You can with some ease, draw by 3, 4 and bring the ball back. The rugged face also helps in the intended effects.
The visual part is attractive and homogeneous across the ASICS line. I still think that something is missing that allows it to stand out more at this level.
I felt some vibration in my arm but nothing much. Due to its format and balance can begin to “weigh” after some time in the field.
It serves mainly left-wing players, who make the power an indispensable ingredient in their game. Being a technical racket I do not advise anyone who is starting the modality. If you are looking for power with some handling commitment, this racket may be ideal for you. Good games!
