Racquet of the “LION” line, from KELME, in its version of 2018. Composed exclusively of fiberglass and a black EVA XTRA SOFT core, a low density gum. It has a hybrid shape between teardrop and diamond. It has a smooth surface and a gloss finish.
When you first pick it up you get the feel of a sturdy and well built racket. The balance is directed towards the head but not too much. When placing the overgrips, I recommend 3, you will be able to optimize the balance towards the handle. If you want you can also put tungsten tapes, which I have always referred to, underneath the overgrips to lower the balance a little more. This is a fairly viable option for when you really like all the other features of a racket, less it´s swing.
In game is a racket with a soft touch. For its low-density gum and fiberglass structure it was expected to have a rather soft touch, which was confirmed. It presents a nice sweet spot for a racket of this format. In terms of power it will not disappoint anyone as it is well served. It has an average output tending to high. In the net trays and volleys come out well directed and powerful but attention to the output that can take several balls to the crystal without a correct technique. The control is acceptable from the bottom of the court, but it will not be the best racket you find in this area. Handling could be a bit better. The lobs come out well directed, with very good depth.
The weight tested was 365gr.
The surface is smooth with gloss finish.
In sound terms it is a racket that has a loud sound and a medium-high timbre.
The safety cord is simple and does not allow for easy adjustment.
In terms of durability, it seems to be a very solid and well built racket which leads to wanting to have a long lifespan when well estimated.
- Good power / control commitment
- Good output
- Sweet spot
- Poor handling
- Non-adjustable safety cord
In conclusion, this is a racket designed for players from mid to high level who want a good balance between power and control with a soft touch. It has a soft stroke and a medium-high output. In the defensive phase does not disappoint and its good output helps you in the tightest moments. In the net it is possible to obtain enough power. With good technique, to counteract some lack of handling, you can fairly easily draw by 3, by 4 and bring the ball back. The visual part is well done. I did not feel much vibration in the arm, but it is not totally free from it. It serves, in my opinion players on both sides, left players who want power but also some output to help in the defensive phase or right players who need extra power. If you are looking for a power racket allied to a good output, this could be the ideal choice for you. Good games!
