Racket of the “900” line, from the renowned Portuguese brand VOLT. Designed with input from Ana Catarina Nogueira, top WPT player, winner of the WPT Master in Madrid. Composed of a 100% carbon structure. Carbon Covers. It has a core of high recovery Black EVA gum. It has a tear shape. It has a rough (sandy) surface and a shiny finish.
FEATURES OF THE RACKET:
When you pick it up for the first time you get the feeling of a very well finished and imposing racket. The swing clearly tends towards the head.
By placing the overgrips, you will be able to slightly optimize the balance towards the handle. If you are unable to place more than 1 overgrip, the option is also due to placing the included weights to lower the racket balance. On the contrary, if you want to add more power, place the included weights on the top of the racket at the location indicated on the protector. This is a very viable option when you are very fond of all the other characteristics of a racket, except the swing.
In play is a racket with a medium touch, tending slightly towards soft. With good rigidity, fruit of the structure and integral carbon covers, however quite comfortable. The sweet spot is located in the upper area of the racket and although it is not spectacular, it is OK for the format.
The handling is positive, however it is necessary to take into account the tear shape, with a high balance, when allowing greater aggressiveness, it loses naturally in the handling a little. In terms of power, it is quite good, the balance towards the head and the rigidity of the materials allow a very interesting power. It has an average output.
IN THE NET:
In the net trays and volleys come out with enough intensity and depth. It is always advisable to keep the racket raised, so that you can react quickly, as the handling is consistent with a tear racket. In smash, you will feel great, and you can serve for 3, for 4 or bring the ball back and achieve fantastic ball speed when you hit the sweet spot correctly. The roughened face helps to achieve the desired effects.
BACK OF THE COURT:
Control in the defensive zone is balanced, however it will depend on the player’s experience and level. Being a technical racket, high level, it is necessary to finish the strokes correctly and reach the sweet spot to get the most out of this “weapon”.
The medium output allows extra help with more complicated balls. The sweet spot, for a teardrop racket, despite being raised is quite good. The handling, reasonable for the format, does not compromise, and is expected for a balanced racket, but more focused on power. The lobs come out quite easily when the sweet spot is reached, and you have to pay attention to the glass when it is.
The weight tested was 365gr.
The surface is rough with a shiny finish.
In terms of sound it is a racket that has a medium sound and an equally medium timbre.
The safety cord is adjustable and one of the most comfortable we have tested.
In terms of durability, it appears to be a very solid racket. Well cared for, it can last a long time with good performance.
- Power / Control
- Adjustable security lanyard
- Balance and high sweet spot (can be a positive point for those looking for power)
In conclusion, this is a racket, which impresses from the moment you pick it up. Another excellent work, with Portuguese signature, of a brand that is already a reference in padel. It is a technical racket in fact, but very well achieved, which serves players on both sides, with a slight greater predominance on the left, preferably of medium-high level.
The visual part, already becomes complicated, to find adjectives for a design of superior quality. A sober and minimalist racket that leaves no one indifferent.
One feels some stiffness and eventually some weight in the arm given the shape, however the vibration is slight, having a feeling of comfort in the blow. Anyway, good physical preparation is recommended.
Excellent work by VOLT!
