Racket of the line “500 GREY”, of the Portuguese brand VOLT PADEL. It is the evolution of VOLT 500 LIGHT, whose analysis can also find here. Consisting exclusively of carbon and a SOFT EVA gum core, a medium-low density gum. It has an aggressive round shape, that is, to tender slightly to tear. It has a smooth surface with matt finish.
Like its previous version and the remaining versions of the VOLT the minimalist visual part is very well achieved and impresses when taking it for the first time. The balance is fairly centered.
By placing the overgrips, you will be able to optimise the balance in the direction of the handle. If you cannot put more than 1 overgrip the option is also for placing tungsten tapes under the Overgrip (s) to lower the paddle balance. On the contrary if you want to add more power, place the ribbons on the top of the racket below or above the protector. This is a very viable option for when you like a lot of all the other features of a paddle, less the swing.
In play is a racket with a medium touch, slightly more tough than the 500 LIGHT in our opinion. The 100% carbon structure gives you additional stiffness. It features a pretty ample sweet spot. In terms of power it lacks for more aggressive rackets and with higher weights, but for a round racket is not too bad. It has an average output, slightly above the LIGHT 500.
in the net:
In the net it is an easy racket and it allows to react very fast. The average output helps make it even more permissive at the time of searching for depth in the volley. It is very manageable and helps in the proper and quick execution of the tray. In the smash, not being your ideal blow, it is possible to bring the ball back, draw by 3 and 4, as long as the correct force and technique is applied.
Back of the court:
Control from the back of the court is exceptional, the average output helps in those balls that tend to go shorter. The ample sweet spot and centered swing makes it a balanced racket. Lobs and defensive blows come out with good depth without great effort.
The tested weight was 359gr.
The surface is smooth with matt finish.
In sound terms is a racket that has a medium sound and with a medium timbre.
The safety cord is adjustable and quite comfortable, which should be the norm on all rackets in my opinion.
In terms of durability, it seems to be a solid, very well built and robust racket that will not break very easily. Well estimated will last a long time in my opinion.
- Wide Sweet spot
- Exceptional control
- Visual well achieved
- Adjustable cord
- It lacks power
In conclusion, this is a racket quite in line with the VOLT 500 LIGHT. With slight increase in stiffness, output and power. Its weight range does not rise from the 365gr which means it serves players with light and easy-to-handle rackets. It is suitable for players of all levels, even beginners, since being a light and easy racket allows a good technical evolution, however it is to be aware that the price is concordant with a high-end racket.
It has a medium-soft hardness punch and an average output to tender very slightly for short. It is a racket that in defensive phase will help you quite given the ample sweet spot and good handling. In the net it also helps, by being permissive and enabling to react very quickly. In the smash, with the right force and technique you will be able to draw by 3, 4 and bring the ball back with some effort.
The visual part remains one of the strengths of the brand in my opinion. It maintains the same minimalist look and very well achieved.
I have not felt practically vibration in the arm, but it is not totally exempt due to its fully carbon structure that gives it a sharp stiffness. Its centered balance contributes so that it does not exert too much strain on the tendons of the elbow and shoulder.
It serves, in my opinion, players of all levels, mostly right and with greater defensive predominance in their game. Also suitable for beginners for being an easy racket.
One more quality racket above the average of a national project.
